The First Mission Arc[]

Mahora Martial Arts Tournament Arc[]

Mana first appears after the events involving Sayoko Minase, observing Touta Konoe training under the World Tree. She says that watching Touta practice reminded her of 80 years ago, most likely referring to his grandfather's training. She explains to Touta that she was an old friend of his grandfather and then challenges Touta to a sparring match. She is able to defeat him rather easily, stating that he still has a long way to go if he wants to be a strong fighter. She then brings Touta and co. inside her office, revealing that she is the acting Headmaster of Amano-Mihashira Academy City. Mana states that she overheard the fact that Touta wants to climb the Orbital Space Elevator. She then tells Touta and co. about the Mahora Martial Arts Tournament and that the finals are located at the top of the tower. She reveals that the tournament will happen in the summer of the next year and that magic, chi, sorcery, the black arts, and every other fighting method will be legal. Mana explains that if the tournament is successful, it will give Japan an edge in their bid to be the next location for the next Neo Olympics. She states the Touta will be allowed to enter provided that he doesn't reveal that he's immortal. Touta is still skeptical about entering until Mana reveals that one of the applicants submitted a form under the name of Touta's grandfather, Negi Springfield. With that information, Touta agrees to enter the tournament. As they are leaving the office, Mana gives one final word of advice that if Touta could not beat her, then he'd never make it past the preliminary rounds.
