The Dark Future Arc is the sixteenth story arc of the UQ Holder! series.
Summary[]
- Because of Touta and Kuroumaru's interference, the inner war of Togen Shinmei School ended peacefully, and Kiroumaru is now rebuilding the clan anew.
- Having discovered that the Mage of the Beginning is currently hiding on Pluto, concentrating on her magic power in order to unleash her ultimate magic Cosmo Entelecheia, the UQ Holder prepares to leave for the space in order to battle and defeat her before her goal could be completed. In order to do so, Touta has to master the power of Mars Album within him to perfection, while Kuroumaru also has to train and master the power of immortal destroying sword within them, which will be the group's valuable offense against the immortal mage.
- As Touta continues to train his power with the guys and Dana, Kuroumaru, Karin, and Kirie decide to make their move in order to deepen their relationship with Touta prior to the point of no return. However, seeing Touta's determination to win against the Mage of the Beginning, they decide to postpone the romantic advance and focus in the upcoming battle as well.
- At Mizore's assertion, Touta goes on a date with both her and Shinobu in order to "catch up" with the other three. During the date, he and the girls run into his old friends (Mihashi, Shiraishi, Nikumaru, and Nowa) and spend time together at a restaurant, updating what happened so far in their lives before parting. After spending time together with Touta, both Mizore and Shinobu each has a heart-to-heart talk with him, with Touta promises to come back after the battle and spends his life growing up with them.
- Touta successfully masters Mars Album and was capable of canceling multiple high-level spells in succession, and the group prepare for their journey. During this time, Santa and the rest discover about a strange disease that put people into deep coma, but pay no attention to it as the battle against the Mage of Beginning is more important.
- The UQ Holder set off and board the elevator to get to the Space Port: Geostationary Orbit Station up in the space, but not before fare-welling Dana, Mizore, and Shinobu. Before they head off to Pluto, the group's members ware to be trained in space-traveling basics at the station, where the high-ranking political members of Inverse Mars hold a party for them.
- During the party, Baal makes an appearance along with his underlings and proceeds to wreck havoc upon the place, sealing Kirie's power to prevent any reset from happening. In the aftermath of the battle, the wounded Touta is thrown off the station into the space, before eventually falling down to Earth at Africa 43 years later in 2131, losing his memories in the process. The amnesiac Touta goes by the name of Toyota and takes up a job as a construction worker, and eventually regains his past memories 4 months later.
